Australian healthcare provider Kairos Care met with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority on Aug. 13 to explore setting up IT-BPO operations in the country, the agency said. The Sydney-based company, which runs general practice, mental health, disability support and aged care services, is eyeing export-oriented back-office work to start, with plans to eventually offer outsourced services to other healthcare organizations and explore wellness partnerships with Philippine resorts.
PEZA meeting opens the door to a broader roadmap
Kairos representatives visited PEZA’s Investment and Corporate Center in Pasay City for the meeting, according to the Manila Bulletin. The company also plans to build ties with Philippine universities for internships and future hiring, a step that several foreign entrants take early on to build a local talent pipeline.
Kairos was connected to PEZA through the Philippine Trade and Investment Center’s Sydney-based commercial counselor, Emmanuel Ang, according to BusinessWorld, pointing to an active government trade-promotion channel behind the introduction rather than unprompted outreach from Kairos itself.
PEZA frames the visit as part of a bigger AI and workforce push
PEZA Director General Tereso Panga told Kairos officials the agency’s ecozone incentives, including those under the CREATE MORE Act, position the company well for growth in the Philippines, according to Philstar. Panga also linked the potential deal to a broader trend: the growing role of AI in healthcare delivery and the need for a workforce prepared for it, framing Kairos’s interest as part of deepening investment ties between Australia and the Philippines.
“The engagement comes at an opportune time as PEZA continues to attract export-oriented, technology-enabled investments that connect Philippine talent to global markets,” Panga said.
Why this matters beyond one company
Nothing here is signed or operational yet. Kairos is still in the exploratory stage. But the sequencing PEZA described—in-house back-office work first, then services for other healthcare clients, then wellness-tourism partnerships—is worth tracking as a template. It suggests that foreign healthcare operators are beginning to view the Philippines as more than just a cost center for their administrative operations. Instead, it could become a platform for outward-facing healthcare BPO services and adjacent wellness offerings.
This is worth watching on two fronts for BPO providers and clients in the healthcare vertical. First, Kairos could become a future competitor for healthcare-focused labor and clients. Second, PEZA’s continued courtship of health-sector BPO investment reinforces the country’s position in AI-adjacent healthcare outsourcing. Providers focused on healthcare administration, mental health support or aged-care back-office functions should treat Kairos’s roadmap as an early signal of where demand might be headed.
