The global medical equipment outsourcing market will grow from $87.6 billion in 2026 to $118.2 billion by 2030 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.8%, London-based The Business Research Company (TBRC) reported Aug. 17. The firm points to rising outsourcing of software-integrated device development and wider digital health adoption as key forces behind that growth.
Regulatory pressure and digital health fuel demand
The report attributes the market’s momentum through 2026 to rising complexity in medical device regulations, mounting cost pressures on manufacturers, and growing reliance on specialized engineering skills to accelerate product commercialization.
Looking toward 2030, TBRC points to a mix of forces sustaining that growth, such as wider adoption of digital health technologies, increased outsourcing of software-integrated devices, a shift toward nearshore manufacturing, and demand for scalable, cost-efficient production models.
The firm also flags a broader industry trend toward outsourcing full device-development cycles rather than isolated manufacturing tasks, alongside rising demand for regulatory compliance and lifecycle management support.
Medical equipment outsourcing involves third-party contracts for the design, development, manufacturing, or maintenance of medical devices, enabling healthcare companies to reduce operating costs, shorten time-to-market, and access specialized expertise without building it in-house.
Asia-Pacific tipped as the fastest-growing region
North America remains the largest regional market as of 2025, but TBRC’s analysis projects Asia-Pacific will grow the fastest through 2030, supported by expanding manufacturing capacity and rising healthcare investment across the region.
The report also notes that demand for medical devices continues to climb globally, driven in part by an aging population with higher rates of chronic illness that require diagnostic, monitoring, and therapeutic equipment.
A related report from TBRC on the broader medical device outsourcing market, which includes manufacturing, regulatory, and remote patient monitoring work, projects even faster growth, from $186.82 billion in 2026 to $330.23 billion by 2030 at a 15.3% CAGR, pointing to remote patient monitoring and connected devices as key drivers.
Sizing the opportunity for healthcare and MedTech BPO
For healthcare and MedTech BPO providers, this is a market-sizing signal rather than a specific deal or client win. Steady growth in equipment outsourcing, paired with faster growth in the broader device outsourcing category, points to sustained demand for partners handling regulatory compliance, quality management, and design-to-manufacture work, not just back-office functions.
Asia-Pacific’s fast-growth position is worth noting for providers with delivery capacity in the Philippines and similar markets, suggesting this work might increasingly follow familiar nearshore and offshore patterns.
