Global BPO Industry Surges Fiji Strengthens Infrastructure, Pakistan’s Call Center Exports Rise

The global business process outsourcing (BPO) industry continues to surge, with emerging markets such as Fiji and Pakistan stepping up to meet growing international demand.

A Precedence Research report values the market at $347.95 billion in 2025, soaring to $840.60 billion by 2034 at a 10.30% compound annual growth rate (CAGR).

Fiji: a strategic Pacific BPO hub

Fiji emerges as a formidable force in the global BPO landscape. With a young, English-proficient, educated population and a service culture shaped by decades of tourism, the island nation positions BPO as a key pillar of economic transformation.

Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica announced plans to expand the BPO workforce from 8,000 to 25,000 by 2030, underscoring the sector’s potential to diversify Fiji’s economy beyond tourism and agriculture.

At LeadsCon 2025 in Las Vegas, Outsource Fiji, alongside service providers Packleader BPO and Duco Consultancy, promoted the nation’s outsourcing strengths. The delegation highlighted the country’s affordability, time zone compatibility with U.S. businesses, and pandemic-tested operational resilience.

Outsource Fiji President Morika Hunter emphasized that the nation offers more than scenic beaches—it’s a smart, agile outsourcing destination. Duco CEO Chandan Ohri pointed to the country’s growing capabilities in IT services. At the same time, Packleader BPO’s Scott Hancox noted the strategic benefit of 24/7 operations, which align with U.S. night shifts and drive local job creation.

Pakistan’s export growth amid integrity push

In South Asia, Pakistan’s BPO sector saw a 20% year-over-year rise in call center export earnings, reaching $207 million between July and February of FY 2024 to 2025. With operating costs up to 70% lower than in the U.S. and Europe, the country remains a top choice for cost-effective outsourcing solutions.

Pakistan’s young, skilled, and English-fluent workforce (over 60% of the population is under 30) makes it well-suited for global customer service. Its time zone also aligns with European and Middle Eastern markets, while its capacity for night-shift operations ensures seamless support for U.S.-based clients.

The industry, comprising over 1,000 call centers and employing over a million professionals, serves clients across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. Despite its growth, concerns have surfaced over fraudulent “Dabba scam” operations. These isolated cases have prompted calls for tighter oversight.

Muhammad Umair Nizam, vice chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), condemned the scams and reaffirmed the industry’s commitment to ethical practices. He emphasized that most of Pakistan’s IT-BPO firms operate with professionalism and integrity.

With IT exports already surpassing $3.2 billion and an ambitious goal of $15 billion by 2030, Pakistan focuses on scaling up responsibly under the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication’s guidance.

Emerging markets, global impact

Fiji and Pakistan are redefining the global outsourcing narrative. Through strategic investments, skilled talent, and an unwavering focus on quality, both nations are carving out powerful positions in the expanding BPO industry.
