India’s iSON Group is weighing $250 million in new agriculture and solar investments in the Philippines, on top of the $300 million telecom tower buildout it committed to in 2025, the Department of Finance said Aug. 12. The expansion would also extend into business process outsourcing (BPO) and digital healthcare, marking the infrastructure investor’s first moves beyond connectivity since entering the market.
$250M in new agri-solar projects on the table
According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the earlier telecom plan, carried out through subsidiary iSON Towers Ltd. Inc., is already about 22 percent complete, with roughly $65 million deployed to build 450 of a planned 3,000 to 4,000 towers nationwide, a pace also confirmed by the Daily Tribune.
Under the new plan, iSON is considering a $50 million modern agri-farming project alongside a $200 million agro-solar venture with 400 megawatts of capacity, building on its existing partnership with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), which already includes a 40-MW solar facility in New Clark City.
BPO and digital health added to the pipeline
Finance Secretary Frederick Go said the investments were discussed during a meeting with iSON representatives, adding that the discussions also covered potential investments in the country’s growing digital healthcare sector and the expansion of iSON’s BPO operations.
“The Department of Finance is committed to creating an environment where investments can translate into better opportunities for Filipinos,” Go said. “With active discussion with investors, we can unlock new investments, create quality jobs for the Filipino workforce, and strengthen key industries.”
iSON Chair Vivek Gupta said the company wants to “put as much money on the ground as possible” to act on the opportunity.
iSON currently operates in roughly 40 countries across Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Government officials have framed the broader push as consistent with the country’s effort to diversify foreign investment and generate jobs.
A new player worth watching on the BPO map
iSON’s move into BPO and digital health signals fresh confidence in the Philippine outsourcing market, even as providers compete for the same specialized talent. Incumbents gain a potential new rival for labor and clients, but also a possible partner given iSON’s towers and solar assets. For clients, it’s an option worth watching, not yet acting on, pending confirmed seat counts, sites, and hiring timelines.
