The sixth edition of BPO Summit Bangladesh wrapped up Saturday night at Senaprangan in Dhaka, amid thunderous applause, drone-lit skies, and a flurry of on-site business deals.
Over two days, the flagship event organized by the Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO) brought together more than 3,000 attendees, including senior ministers, tech leaders, diplomats, and aspiring youth, all united under the summit’s bold theme: “BPO 2.0—Revolution to Innovation.”
With over 30 local and international IT-enabled exhibitors and 86 speakers, the summit transformed into a vibrant launchpad for the future of Bangladesh’s outsourcing industry.
Innovation, inclusion, and immersive tech take center stage
Nine thematic seminars explored critical issues such as artificial intelligence (AI) integration, cybersecurity, fintech, women’s leadership, and freelancing ecosystems. These sessions built a practical roadmap for elevating Bangladesh’s outsourcing value chain.
A key highlight was the interactive Expo and Experience Zones, where attendees explored hands-on tech such as Starlink satellite internet, AR recreations of the 1969 student uprising, underwater drones, and humanoid robots. These offered a clear glimpse into Bangladesh’s emerging high-tech future.
Youth engagement was equally robust. A career fest featuring workshops, CV clinics, and real-time interviews converted over 100 résumés into confirmed job offers. The emphasis on digital inclusion, gender diversity, and future-focused skills underscored BACCO’s commitment to sustainable talent pipelines.
From jobs today to a $5 billion tomorrow
The closing ceremony brought together key figures, including Finance Special Assistant Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman, and ICT Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury. It quickly turned into a strategic discussion on Bangladesh’s digital future.
BACCO President Tanvir Ibrahim shared ambitious goals: tripling employment to 300,000 and reaching $5 billion in annual BPO exports by 2030, up from the current 85,000 jobs and $850 million. Government leaders pledged support in streamlining data security regulations and enabling faster cross-border payments.
Former Foreign Secretary Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam advocated for “economic diplomacy” to help Bangladeshi services reach global markets. Experts from banking and mobile-finance sectors highlighted innovations in digital payment flows that would allow freelancers and firms to receive earnings within minutes, not weeks.
As fireworks painted the Dhaka night sky and booths packed up, BACCO Secretary General Faisal Alim captured the event’s spirit. “BPO is no longer just a job opportunity; it is a career path, a community, and a national growth engine,” he said.
Judging by the energy and optimism that lingered long after the lights dimmed, Bangladesh’s outsourcing journey from revolution to innovation has only just begun—and the tide is clearly in its favor.
